SIL OFL FAQ says:
A brief header describing the FONTLOG itself and name of the font family
Basic Font Information - description of the font family, purpose and breadth
ChangeLog - chronological listing of changes

It could also include other sections, such as: where to find
documentation, how to make contributions, information on contributing
organizations, source code details, and a short design guide.

IDEA: Other information that could be added to a FONTLOG is

Future Development
====================
IDEA: Write PHP to parse FONTLOG files, similar to the README file
parsing of wordpress plugins, where information from README is
displayed on the plugin page at wordpress.org.
Reference implementation of a README is at
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/about/readme.txt and they can
include an (optional) "Donate Link", which can lead to Paypal page, a
flattr page, a Gittip page...
Rafael Bastide: We could use my unified font structure project I
present tomorrow,
https://github.com/raphaelbastide/Unified-Typeface-Design/
davelab6: The font source repo idea needs three things to be fully realised:
1. Font Source Repo Specification
2. Font Source Repo Reference Implementation
3. Unit Tests that check an implementation matches the specification
OFLB can then become a great visual catalog for a list of git repos
that follow the MUST items in the specification.
I am developing http://github.com/xen/bakery - a Continuous
Integration server for fonts, that will help to automate the
implementation of SHOULD items in the specification, such as by
prompting the user to create them directly in the browser, or by
generating them from prior MUST/SHOULD items.
